Making the Mountain was founded by me, Rebecca Aronauer, in 2014. I’m a copywriter and fiction writer based in Denver.
I came up with Making the Mountain to tell the story of my own writing and hear how other local artists came to their craft. From the beginning, I wanted to expand the idea of what an “artist” is. Anyone doing something with intention counts. The first event featured a musician, a beer brewer, a photographer, and me.
The event was a success, and what started as an idea dreamed up on a bike ride became a quarterly talk in partnership with Lighthouse Writers Workshop. Lighthouse, the largest literary nonprofit center in Colorado, hosts Making the Mountain and provides sponsorship and community outreach.
Now in its fourth year, Making the Mountain is becoming a Denver institution. Each installment showcases the work of three artists and is a celebration of Colorado’s creative community.
